Pursuing higher education in US is everybody’s dream. US is known for Engineering studies as well as Medical & Business courses too. US has some top Universities of the world, wherein lot of research work going on in the field of Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Pharma, Civil, Mechanical, Automobile Engineering and Bio Technology. Lots of research work is State funded. That’s why every engineers dream is to pursue higher studies in the Top universities in the US.

Normally, most students prefer going for Masters (MS) or MBA after completing their under graduation in India. Masters is normally a 2 year course, which a student can complete even in 1.5 years, by completing more credits in the first 3 semesters. The degree will be credit based, unlike marks and % in India. There will be generally 2 intakes, in every August and January, with a minor intake in May, which is run by a small number of Universities. To get into Master’s one has to compete in English Language Test’s – TOEFL or IELTS and Graduate Record Exam (GRE) for Engineering courses and GMAT for Business courses like MBA. The quality of the University which accepts the students application, totally depend on the marks in the Undergraduate courses, Toefl / IELTS scores and the GRE scores. One has to start preparing for the admission process well in advance of one year from the anticipated intake. The fee per annum will range from US$ 10,000 to US$ 20,000, depending on the University and the course.

Even though, the Undergraduate courses are a bit expensive, in recent years, the number of applicants for undergraduate courses in USA has gone up by leaps and bounds. The UG course is normally a 4-year course. The tests which students have to compete are TOEFL or IELTS and SAT test. The intakes available are similar to the Masters program.
